Classic Songs On Love and Romance

Inspired by the season of love and romance, I have decided to share with you what I consider to be some of the most romantic, beautiful, artistic songs on love and romance. Some you will know, some you may not, some you'll adore and some you'll hate. I'm very interested to hear your opinions, so please feel free to coment. And so in no particular order here are my ten favourite love songs:

Unchained Melody - Righteous Brothers
Love songs don't get much better than this; it never fails to put tingles down my spine. What a voice, what lyrics, so sad, so sweet. The song was originally produced in 1955 for as the theme for a movie called 'Unchained' about a man condemned to prison, calling for his loved one. There have been many versions since that time, it is one of the most covered songs, but this 1965 version by the Righteous Brothers is a clear cut above the rest.

I'm Kissing You  - Des'ree
From the I saw the movie Romeo and Juliet with Leonardo di 'Caprio I have been unable to get this song out of my head. Des'ree has incredible vocals in this song. It is simultaneously one of the most tragic and beautiful songs I have heard.

All The Man That I Need - Whitney Houston
She may have gone through troublesome times, but Whitney Houston is still a legend. There are so many of her songs I could choose but this one is beautiful, a booster for the men in our lives. And the voice, let's face it, there aren't many really talented vocalists these days, let alone anyone who measures up to this.

Endless Love - Lionel Richie and Diana Ross
This song would later be covered by Mariah Carey and Luther Vandrosss, incredible talents, but I still prefer this version with Lionel and Diana. Far more uplifting and romantic.

End of the Road - Boyz II Men
What can I say, the vocals are just so harmonious. Boyz II Men are legends, beautiful vocals, beautiful songs and this has gone down in time as one of their classics.

Killing Me Softly - Lauryn Hill and The Fugees/ Al B. Sure
Lauryn Hill is amazing and this is another of R'n'Bs top love songs, the Fugees version of vocal genius Al B. Sure's 80s hit. Most people don't know Al B's version, and his voice is so amazing, so I have included it here. It is a pity Lauryn's career did not have more longevity, what a voice, what a talent for the modern age. Makes you miss the 90s, doesn't it?

The Power of Love - Jennifer Rush
Another Classic, yes another song from before I was born, but they just don't make them the same anymore. Celine Dion covered this song later with her beautiful vocals, which I have to say I do prefer. But despite the vocals, there is something about this original that Celine didn't quite capture.

(Everything I do) I do it for you - Bryan Adams
Is there a woman alive who doesn't love this song. Bryan's gorgeous vocals, the tone of his voice, and the loving lyrics, not to mention the amazing film it accompanies, make this soundtrack smash hit a classic for me.

And I'm Telling You - Jennifer Hudson
This is a cover of Bonnie Tyler's song, but I chose Jennifer's version just because I love her voice and think she was a wonderful actress in Dream Girls.

When A Man Loves A Woman - Percy Sledge
Had to end it on a classic. Needs no real explanation. Enjoy!
